I haven't been cooking a lot of appetizers lately, in fact I haven't been cooking much at all except for light dinners - mainly because I've been doing my food as Pop Art instead of edibles! It's also hot and I don't like my oven on adding to the heat in the summer so I do a lot of barbecue, salads and cold plates. And I spend my time working very close to the air conditioner!
The whole pop art food thing started with my Pop Art Cupcake Illustration which was inspired by a birthday trip to a gourmet cupcake bakery which prompted me to bake up my own edible pop art cupcakes. They were so colorful I decided to do graphic pop art cupcakes.
From there it was just a sprinkle away to the rest:
POP ART POPSICLES
POP ART ICE CREAM CONES
POP ART CAKE
POP ART PIE
POP ART COOKIES
POP ART HAMBURGER (Burger & Fries)
and then, of course,
POP ART MARTINI:
Yes, you can get all the Pop Art Food designs on aprons and cups as well as posters, t-shirts, customizable business cards, cards and even shoes!Next up? Why a Pop Art Hot Dog & Chips and a few more pop art cocktails and, hopefully, cooler weather and new appetizer recipes!
I'm also trying to figure out how to pop art some "tiny foods" - maybe sushi pop art?
